Blessing Ceremony of the Century Old Pipe Organ Channels Old World Glamour, Goes back to memory lane..

Classic beauty and simple elegance characterized the scene at the long awaited Unveiling and Blessing of the Century Old Pipe Organ. The Bacong Church was filled with men in formal outfit, women wearing their head dress (burunda). Fresh flowers surrounding the church interior provided a colorful backdrop for the equally colorful side curtains. It was the first in my lifetime that i saw Bacong Church elegantly decorated at that magnitude. The hair raising sound of the Pipe Organ reverberating from my head down to the tip of my toe blended with the voices of the multi pitched Bacong Community Choir. Two Bishops the most Rev. John F Du and the most Rev. Julito B Cortes with more than a dozen priest concelebrating graced the occasion. Bishop Julito Cortes a former Parish Priest of Bacong and a music advocate himself was so jubilant upon the resurrection of the century old Pipe Organ which was laid to rest for 39 years with many failed attempts to restore it. The honorable Mayor Lenin Alviola delivered his message the old fashioned way, at the old podium where the late Fr. Galo Vendiola delivers his sermon of course with no microphone.
